Christmas Advent: Gifts

It’s December which means it’s time for a Christmas Advent! For the next 3 1/2 weeks we will be covering different topics related to the birth of Christ and the hope it brings us. This week we are looking at the gifts linked with His birth.

Day 8: Gifts Given to Jesus

The gifts given to Jesus were significant in there relation to the life He would lead.

Gold was, and still is, an expensive metal, associated with royalty, acknowledging Him as the King of kings.

Frankincense was an incense used in offerings of thanksgiving and praise to God.

Finally, Myrrh was used to embalm, a sign of His life of suffering and ultimately His death on the cross

Day 9: Gifts Given to Mary

Mary knew from the beginning that her baby was an incredible gift. In her song of praise to God she acknowledges just how grateful and honored she is to be chosen.

She watched as shepherds and wisemen came in awe of her child. She treasured these gifts and as she watched Him grow up and become an incredible man she saw how great a gift He was first hand.

Day 10: A Gift to a Righteous Man

Simeon had lived a very long life awaiting the arrival of the Messiah. It was promised to him that he wouldn’t die until he had seen the Savior of the world with his own eyes. Can you imagine how incredible it would be to finally hold the child that was God in human form, come to save the world?

He was gifted a glimpse at the Savior whom He would be joined with in Heaven!

Day 11: A Present for the Past

We all have a past full of sins. Although we may have sinned differently, it is all viewed equally to God. A sin is a sin. Christ was born to die for our sins, ALL of our sins.

No matter what you have done in the past, His blood has covered all sins. Christ’s gift of salvation is available to ALL. No one is too far gone to accept His free gift of Salvation!

Day 12: A Gift for the Present

We long await Christmas throughout the year. We know it only comes once a year and we wait patiently (well…maybe not always patiently) for it to arrive.

The gift of salvation is not limited to one day of the year. Salvation is available NOW for YOU! NOW is the best time to get peace for your soul. TODAY is the day to accept salvation for yourself.

Rest in His work on the cross today!

Day 13: A Gift of a Future

Although the gift of Salvation is for now and we reap its benefits daily, the greatest gift is set in our future. He has wonderous plans for His people, for YOU! He has a plan for your life and He has set a place for you in Heaven with Him.

No matter what we face on this earth we have hope knowing that we have a place in His perfect kingdom for all eternity!

Day 14: A Gift for YOU

Salvation is not just a gift for the world, it’s not just a gift for the righteous, it’s not just a gift for your neighbor, it is a personal gift. The gift of salvation is ready and available for all. The gift of salvation is available for YOU!

Christ came, He died on the cross, and He made the complete sacrifice for YOUR sins. Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.
